I also just saw the show the rookie has been on for 5 seasons and I swore it was cancelled after 1 episode. Who watches that?
I know there was some discussion of contracts for hired guns/crew/supporting artists for major tours in the music thread, but I’m curious to know how big (if at all) a contractual nightmare it would be for an actor to leave a production when an abuser is brought on after they’ve signed on. Obviously there’s a difference when we’re talking about people with Disney money but how many hoops would Adam Driver or Jason Schwartzman or anyone have to jump through to leave the production. Or if actors are starting to add protections for themselves in their contracts.
Most contracts probably don't have specific language about leaving a project if someone else joins the cast/crew that they have any issue with. Actors also rarely have much input over anything and being in a Francis Ford Coppola film is literally a once in a lifetime opportunity so however principled or convicted anyone in the cast/crew might feel, this would likely be a tough job to give up for its quality and prestige. Part of what disappoints me about this casting is that this prestigious, once in a lifetime opportunity is being handed to LeBouf (also willing to bet 83 year old Coppola doesn't know anything about LeBouf's personal life, even with the headlines it made, but that's not a defense of the casting). I also don't think we should assume anyone else in the cast/crew does care until any of them make it known. It wouldn't be unheard of for an actor to leave, it happens when scheduling doesn't work out or if they get another offer for a project they're more interested in. But it wouldn't be easy, or at least it would depend on how far along in the process the project is.
Yeah completely aware of all of that. I guess I’m more wondering if we’re going to start seeing morality clauses in contracts about who gets brought on and if studios/directors/etc would even stand for it. Sucks people don’t realize they’re putting an entire production worth of people in danger when they make these decisions
The LaBeouf Megapolis announcement is such a bummer, especially with some of the exciting other cast members in that film. Really don’t wanna have to endure Shia to watch that film.

I guess the question for Jason is if he'd ever get another shot in one of his uncle's films. Dude is 83 and his output has been very sporadic over the years. Francis Ford Coppola also doesn't seem to be concerned with accountability issues with actors. He had Vincent Gallo in a lead role for a 2009 film. Jon Voight is also in this new movie, and shitty politics aside, he was accused last year of slapping a co-star during a scene on a tv show.
