Just saw someone mention that this doesn't bode well for Evan Rachel Wood because apparently there's claims that she falsified documents to the FBI regarding the Manson case. Anyone know anything about this? That HBO doc seemed super damning.
Also super fun reminder that Depp has another trial coming where he was accused of punching a crew member
These hacks are opportunists, they’ll never be logically consistent. The Hollywood elites are performing evil acts of terror and they are good for doing that actually, we support the celebs doing whatever they want forever. I hope Depp drinks some human blood tonight to celebrate.
Can anyone recommend a reputable article or anything breaking down the entirety of the trial and all the evidence? Was trying not to ask in the thread since it’s such a sensitive subject but I’ve seen pretty reputable people coming to all different conclusions and haven’t had much look finding anything straight forward on my own
the absolute freaks celebrating this like it's the ending of a mediocre Depp film makes me wanna toaster bath
Some of the CourtTV coverage was really good, it explained how a defamation case differs from a criminal trial. Ultimately, I think the details regarding how Amber lied about donating the money from the divorce and doing the volunteer work really impacted the jury. Also, think the ACLU/Musk tie-in didn't help her credibility. While that issue has nothing to do with DV, it did cast her credibility in doubt.
Thank you. It’s gotten so muddy with the memeification of everything and so much of what I was finding were articles about the way society was reacting to the trial and not the trial itself and then eventually it just got too painful and exhausting to keep digging.
Much like @iCarly Rae Jepsen I also didn't bookmark a lot of my links so I'll link them if I find them, but the UK verdict is a very good primer even tho it's not this trial. These are the transcripts https://www.nickwallis.com/depp-trial-court-transcripts They are super long so here is just the verdict which has info: https://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/QB/2020/2911.html Edit: Lol I'll delete the tweet cause Ian already shared it!
Tbh another scary element that has arisen from this trial is that if a woman starts to fight back against her abuser, she will be labeled an abuser or "just as bad" as the abuser. She will be labeled a psychopath and a narcissist. When I was growing up I'd always hear ppl question why the woman didn't fight back. Here we have a woman who did fight back, and look what happened. We can literally never win.
Y’all don’t even wanna know the numbers of respected medical professionals cheering in my hospital rn..
"She's begging for total global humiliation... She's gonna get it" - Johnny Depp, being depressingly correct
looks like he deleted it: “I think it’s hilarious that in less than a year the guy saying “Michael write and direct your gay slasher movie for me. Do whatever you want” is now making movies exclusively for Ben Sha*piro.” ^writer/director of Happy Death Day and Freaky
Fucked up to say the least, considering the amount of backlash to #metoo happening now and how much harder things will be for abuse victims. Trashy men coming out of the woodwork in support of Johnny was a given but the amount of women supporting him is interesting. Some footage of it recently was pretty harrowing, everyone seemed like they were in a trance or something. Cult of fame, personality, etc is a helluvadrug. Anywho something that IS good about all of this is the amount of abusers, potential abusers and cultists putting themselves on full display, so hopefully this moment in time is being well documented.
Lol most of these ppl aren't even Depp stans I swear like where were they when the lone ranger and Alice in wonderland 2 flopped?? Tbh I didn't even follow this case in the beginning or when it was in the UK. Much like the Disney executive who testified I thought Johnny was a washed up hasbeen based off of his rolling stone article and his money problems as well as the rumors he had to be fed lines thru an earpiece. I didnt even read her op-ed until he sued her and brought it to my attention
This trial also would probably have not really been on my radar And the radar of many others if depp didn't insist on it being televised and the judge is a hack for allowing it to be and putting a victim on display like that and letting her be humiliated on television. That alone pretty much gave me no optimism for how this would turn out
