Oh they'll bring it up but they'll say the judge was corrupt and post some chart full of arrows about how amber had a connection to the judge so it ended up in her favor
Had to look through the wiki of the trial because google brings up way too many articles to sift through lol, but it was actually only one person and it was Kate James, who was Heard's assistant from 2012-15
Yeah and that sucks for sure if she was abusing her employee because that's not okay, but doesn't rly make heard any less credible to me in this court case.
Yeah to be clear I definitely agree that her allegations about Depp seem perfectly credible, and it is very odd to me how many people seem to think that he has somehow exonerated himself from the initial allegations (on the wiki page I also saw that their marriage counselor testified *for* Depp and described the relationship as mutually abusive — literally his own witness conceding the main point of the trial! Even if Heard abused him, that legally doesn’t matter for the defamation case if Depp did as well!). Just that stuff like that doesn’t really make her all that sympathetic to me, and my sense is more that they are probably both pretty awful people in their own right
She may be awful in some ways but when two ppl are being compared and one is being accused of rape/SA, their levels of suckage are kinda different. It makes her plenty sympathetic to me still
I mean I don’t think there’s any point of comparing them in the first place. Heard’s bad behavior doesn’t excuse Depp’s bad behavior and vice versa.
The trial/lawsuit was all about Depp wanting to tarnish her image in the public eye so that she’d be less credible and he’d be able to work his way back into the public’s good graces. Win or lose, I’d say it’s mostly been a successful strategy for him. I truly can’t think of many people I know who have any sympathy for Heard, whether or not they like Depp. He’s been very effective at getting the media to mostly adopt his narrative. If he were to lose the case in the end, I don’t even think it would matter at this point.
He loses the case and a bunch of wound up posters are going to go ballistic on her for “revenge” because they’ve been fed this one-sided narrative. This could get really dangerous, a lot of unstable people are sure they’re right and have only been told that everyone agrees with them.
Lol many of his avid defenders I've seen haven't even read the op-ed that led to the lawsuit in the first place. The op-ed that doesn't even mention him by name and is like the tamest thing ever. Ppl legit think it's a criminal trial to punish one side for abusing the other because thats the circus he's made it. But what rly gets me are those ppl who claim its about justice for male victims of abuse who are overlooked, but then they're making memes and a mockery of the trial. Yeah, u seem real concerned about ppl taking male DV seriously! They just want an outlet for misogyny disguised as some virtuous act Sorry for all the edits. I have feelings today!!
I've always frankly thought of Rolling Stone as a bit of a trash publication so it doesn't especially surprise me that they did this, but it is horribly gross and disappointing.
I think Rolling Stone has some great music journalists like Brian Hiatt and Rob Sheffield. But it gets increasingly hard to defend them when they run stuff like the Hawkins story.
Yep. Defamation suits are a gross tactic and it’s particularly silencing when there is a wealth disparity between the two parties. It’s why I criticized how Conor Oberst handled the allegations against him, which was a defamation suit in a state where the woman didn’t live asking for a million dollars in damages.
This kind of stuff, and I’ve tons more like it, is particularly deranged. Recently saw a tiktok by this lawyer who pointed out that apparently recently Heard wore black and Depp’s lawyer wore white, and that was supposed to be a subtle dig by the Depp lawyer that she is on the “light”/good side and Heard is on the “dark”/evil side. That and so much else has been so dark, like people treating this as if it is literally a fictional drama that exists for the sake of the spectator’s enjoyment, it’s extremely bizarre. The slightest glance or movement by one person becomes a basis for the crudest armchair psychology
I Know theres a story about the 2 of them in the news (Depp/Heard) but I havent really followed it. I would assume, he attacked her and shes fighting for her rights. But I thought I heard it was going both ways - that each were attacking each other. Can i get the abridged version of this? (I really don't want to read all the stories about it, but Id like to know the facts I guess, of the story)
From what I understand they both treated each other badly and shouldn’t be getting roles, but now Depp is wanting to get back at her publicly because he feels it’s her fault that he starting losing roles. Depp fans are eating up all of the memes and short clips and are no longer seeing both Depp and Heard as bad people, only Heard. At least that’s how it seems. I do know that before the trial it seemed like both Heard and Depp were viewed pretty negatively. Depp’s supporters skyrocketed due to TikTok videos which are mostly edited to make Depp look good against Heard’s lawyers.
