that whole article is ridiculous. It’s him calling multiple women with similar stories liars for like 600 words only to end with him deciding maybe he isn’t that bad of a guy. Fucking dork

I know they’re different events, but I know the Oscars pay all performers. Absolutely appalling

I would’ve thought the artists pay the backup dancers. Either way there’s no way the exposure is worth it since no one remembers backup dancers with the exception of left shark.

This reminds me of a tweet that went around a while ago about a wedding that wanted to not pay a singer. They also were offering “exposure”.

I think they usually do but I guess these aren't acts that typically have backup dancers

FWIW the Super Bowl doesn’t pay *any* performers, not even the main halftime act.

NFL cheerleaders only get paid a couple hundred dollars a game.

It makes sense not to pay the musical artists because you are giving them free exposure. People might go and buy those songs but no one is looking up the backup dancers.

Counterpoint - it is never appropriate to deny people financial earnings for their work.

How have we got people defending "exposure" in 2022?

For the record, I wasn't defending it. I was just pointing out that Halftime performers have never been paid, and I'm not sure that is common knowledge amongst the public. Of course anyone should be paid for their work, I was just pointing out that the Super Bowl never has, which is an issue. I certainly wasn't condoning it.

I would imagine that the increase in concert and album sales that comes from being on the Super Bowl far outweighs any one-time payment they would receive. The NFL actually tried to make the musicians pay to perform at the Super Bowl, but it was controversial and dropped.

Musicians and actors and other celebrities on talk shows don't get more than basic accommodations and a stipend because they are basically advertising.

Ugh, I've been on a big Price is Right kick lately, only to find that Drew Carey has been defending Mike Richards as recently as 3 months ago. Disappointing to hear, especially after hearing about how Richards treated models on that show.

Haven’t seen this shared in here yet. This is about Jake G according to people on Twitter based on the timeline, and obviously the image used.

Also the way people like Kimmel make fun of fans of groups like BTS when they are mostly younger women feels gross like they aren’t allowed to be excited about something. I know sometimes KPOP fans can be extreme but still.
