Some people I know in an MST3K fan group are pretty hurt by this. That’s actually the first place I saw it. Similar feeling to everything with JK Rowling where his character and work has been a big comfort source and now that feels dragged down by doing this. Didn’t see that he had responded and was deleting tons of comments from concerned fans in addition to trolls, that’s not a great look.
The JK Rowling stuff has made me ashamed to have ever become invested in that world as a kid. I know I shouldn't feel that way because obviously 10-year-old me could never have known that she would become a raving monstrous transphobic bigot, but I still feel it anyway. I think about all the Potter stuff and just feel alternately angry, ashamed, and numb. Can't stand seeing it all over the place the last week with that reunion special coming out.
I mean, this was the man who frequently used words like f***** and made fun of mentally handicapped people in his older material.
Unfortunately Patton has long had that blind spot despite otherwise being cool, he said rupaul can use the t word and Daniel Tosh can joke about sexual assault
Like, I know HBO Max has to advertise its own programming on the homepage, but holy crap get that HP shit out of my face
The most egregious thing was the ads on social media where they were using The Matrix to promote the Potter reunion in the same ad. Like how could you be so fucking dense.
I recently rewatched a clip of the outtake of Patton on Parks and Rec re: Star Wars, that was so funny. And like, I felt so bad when he lost his wife. This sucks. Shows you can sympathize with someone for one reason and then be wary of them for another.
I think I took a pic of a billboard of that before a show last month! edit: Nope, it was an audible ad public transportation getting to that show was a nightmare, it was so cool to finally get to the venue just to look up and see that
Dude what. I'd watched a few seasons of ANTM as a teen (cis straight male at the time), heard later that she was a bit problematic but didn't realize it was that bad, so many examples (from the same thread)
Lol why is Sandler even being brought into it? Dante has been a dork and hasn’t been in anything Sandler related in a decade.
Yeah it seems weird to pull him into it just because the guy was in his 2000s movies lol. Schneider is free game but I'm also not here to get mad at celebrities for their long-term friendships with problematic people
This would be at least three from that world, Allen Covert said/did a bunch of awful stuff last year in the same realm that I think was talked about here too. Grandma’s Boy has always been a favorite of mine but I don’t know if I’ll be able to revisit it knowing half the cast is a bunch of COVID denying creeps.
Did he? The most I could find was him fighting a paparazzi in 2008 edit: It looks like he did something on Twitter but I can’t find it
Yeah I’m blanking on the specifics at the moment, but I remember something coming up that was incredibly disappointing and topical that made me upset because I had JUST rewatched it and thought it might end up being the last time. Might have just been tweets that were posted, I can’t imagine seeing a discussion about it on another site but here.
It also may have been 2020 because time has no meaning anymore and I have no idea what was six months or three years ago.
Oh yeah I meant Covert’s comments. This is the first I’ve heard anything about Dante outside of his acting in my life. Definitely a shame.
