Thank You, Eddie Deezen, For Showing Us All How Not to Treat Waitresses/People — Nathan Rabin's Happy Place
I dunno. There being a tweet from a couple months before he signed on to play Shang-Chi where he acknowledged, unprompted, that he used to say and think shittier things than he does now… is pretty promising, imo. I know there’s a tendency to be like, oh, so-and-so is/was a grown adult. And, yeah, sure! But, society is what it is, and is full of people who think the terrible things that they think. If we can’t believe that growth, even later in life, is possible, then… what’s the solution for a shit ton of the human population? A global flood, with some select woke folks on an ark? I have no personal attachment to Simu Liu or his career, and I take pretty much all famous people’s goodness with a giant grain of salt. But, I’m all for hoping that ignorance truly is in the past for him, and accepting that change if it proves to be the case.
What I read of that part was obviously terrible, for multiple reasons. But, I didn’t read it as “defending pedophilia” so much as hearing some stuff about how it works and wanting the people who experience those horrific desires to get help.
I get an actor wanting to research for a role but when he said pedophilia is no different than being gay I think he might have stumbled upon the wrong websites
That’s the biggest part that I’d love an apology for and clarity on how he feels about it now. The tweet from 2019 addressed his old angry thoughts, but not old “respectfully”-worded-very-harmful thoughts. Based on my own personal background and that of people I know, I still have hope that he could’ve been formed early on by bad beliefs and outgrown them later in life. But, until we know more, I’ll definitely be worried that he still holds “respectful,” grotesque views on queerness in private.
Omg this is more of the accountability issue to me. I didn't click the article and idk who this guy is but throwing food at cops like eh live your best life. But the blatant hypocrisy with marky mark?? Smh
He also commented on his decision to delete the tweets…. "I deleted a couple of tweets I made regarding the past actions of one of my costars as a gesture of professionalism and to open to door to progressive conversations and (hopefully) positive change," he added. "Obviously it'd be pretty weird to go to work with that tweet still up." Simu Liu Defends Deleting Tweet About Costar Mark Wahlberg's Past Assault Against Asian Men
Hahaha different person (Simu Liu) but it’d be funny if Eddie Deezen was in a Marky Mark movie in the age of twitter. He’s just an irrelevant mean loser
Lol idk who Eddie deezen or simu liu are so I've been lost for like the last two pages of this thread
Eddie Deezen is best known as Eugene the nerd in the Grease film and was also in War Games, 1941, and a bunch of low budget cult movies.
