James was at least at one time a talented standup comedian. Breuer has never been. He opened for Metallica when I saw them and it was just torture. He basically just ended up doing a half-hour bit, saying “Remember (insert classic rock band)?” Then they’d play a song over the speakers and he’d do an impression of the singer.
I just know him from those I Love the __'s specials on VH1. My thing about the anti vaxers is that they really truly think they're doing something important. Blows my mind.
I have a soft spot for Al Franken. I always liked him on SNL. But I am certainly biased, since that was the time I watched weekly, when Stuart Smalley was on, and loved the show 100% back then. Maybe it wasnt as funny as I thought. but at the time, I loved it. Politically, no clue on his stances of any kind.
Jim Breuer has to, HAS to be one of the all time least funny/most obnoxious people on the planet. dude has never once been funny. additionally, for whatever reason friends of ours spent hard earned money to go see him a few weeks back and said it was one of the worst things they'd ever seen. not only was he plain not funny, but most of his show was spent going on anti-vax rants bitching about covid and masks and how he hates that his daughter went away to college and came home 'woke'. guy can fuck off right into the sun.
from 18 hours ago; Comedian and 'SNL' alum Jim Breuer cancels shows at venues requiring Covid vaccination The former "Saturday Night Live" cast member said the cancellations were "due to the segregation of them forcing people to show up with vaccinations." segregation lol
I actually watched a little bit of his Facebook live just to see how crazy it was and couldn't last more than a few minutes because dude seems deranged. These people are out there, man.
My feelings line up with Eliza's, I was a huge fan like pretty much everyone else but he really disappointed me later in life. This just adds to that.
I have similar feelings about Norm as I have about Dave Chappelle, another comic who helped shape my sense of humor as a teenager and into adulthood but has massively let me down in recent years. It truly sucks when our heroes aren't who we hoped, thought, or wanted them to be.
Agreed. I’ve enjoyed returning to some of his classic bits because of both nostalgia and appreciating a time when I loved him. But he definitely got very weird and mean(or perhaps always was) in his later years when it came to certain things, usually related to women.
Also I should be clear I am in no way trying to center myself and my feelings here, I was just trying to let out some of my own personal feelings about this situation. The experiences of the survivors in that tweet's replies are way more important than me lamenting the loss of someone I used to look up to.
I don't know what to say other than other victims of his mean or creepy behavior had different experiences that he never apologized for that left lasting impressions.
It sucks to see insta stories of him posted by people who post in support of victims of sexual misconduct, etc...
Seems like this was one of those "known in the industry, not to the public" situations. Prior to reading those tweets, I had never heard any of that. I was previously only aware of the things he had said about MeToo, Louis CK, and Roseanne Barr.
