You're meant to like or at least tolerate Michael Scott because within 30 seconds of observing his behaviour, you know he's a child stuck in an adult's body. He's never learned to process rejection, he throws tantrums at parties, he says whatever pops into his head at the moment - I didn't get the impression that any of that was ever celebrated. By the same token, he loves being generous with the people he cares about, he's thrilled to give halloween candy to the neighbour children, and he has a brash confidence that you often can't help but root for even when he's a complete idiot. There's one line that always summed up Michael Scott for me, and its when Pam is flipping out over Michael dating her mom, and Michael asks everyone in the office, "What is so wrong with me? Is it really so hard to believe that I could find love?" And you find yourself thinking, well, you're an ass but you're probably just a scared little kid inside like the rest of us, so... maybe you're not so bad
Just looked on one of the local comedy clubs websites here in Chicago and Louis CK has five sold out shows there next week. What the hell. I’m super disappointed in that club right now.
I grew up watching Speed as an enjoyable dumb action movie with incredibly dumb dialogue. It wasn’t until years later I learned Wheden was uncredited with a majority of the dumb dialogue in the script.
I saw him open for Adam Sandler a few years ago and during his set I remember thinking, “Yeeeeah… I don’t like this guy at all.” And since then, he’s continued to prove over and over that I really don’t like him.
Wait, have right wing nut jobs now started using "My Body My Choice" unironically because it presently serves their message?
