Don’t think this was posted here per a search but Thomas Middleditch accused of sexual abuse/harassment last month via a TikTok. Doesn’t seem like it gained much traction though. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeFgAAnd/
this is also apparently him it looks like the caption changed but he pressured her to get them and kept making comments about how much he liked other women's bodies
The amount of cynicism here makes me want to scream. You can't convince me AT ALL they're doing this for any reason other than they know the doc will bump his works for awhile and they want to profit from that.
I want to make it clear that I am not defending Roman Polanski here AT ALL, but I think the reason people feel less uncomfortable watching some of his movies compared to Allen is because Polanski’s crime isn’t baked into basically everything he ever made, whereas Woody is dating or obsessed with a ridiculously young woman in like 85% of his filmography.
Also Woody Allen was absolutely the person who got me into filmmaking and I had no problem tossing him away. There are plenty of filmmakers (Gerwig, Baumbach, Hong Sang-Soo, Stillman, Linklater, etc.) doing Woody Allen better than Woody Allen in 2021, anyway.
I also feel like, and correct me if I’m wrong, that people think of Woody Allen movies as WOODY ALLEN movies. People think of Roman Polanski movies as Rosemary’s Baby, Chinatown, etc.
To support this a little, I somehow never knew Chinatown as a Polanski film. Rosemary’s Baby and The Pianist are the only films I know as “Polanski films” where as Woody Allen films are very visibly his.
According to Letterboxd, I’ve seen 0% of Polanski’s movies, and only 1% of Woody Allen’s. And it turns out the only movie I’ve seen connected to Woody Allen is Antz...
