    Hardly a glowing endorsement. lol.

Pratt also follows PragerU and Ben Shapiro on Instagram. That should tell you all you need to know.

it's been discussed in the politics thread today, but it taking trump to realize that republican talking points have been fairly craven for decades now is pretty suspect

So fuck her for saying her political views have evolved from when she was a teenager? Dumb take, leave her alone.

We really shouldn’t hold it against every person who used to think like a Republican, especially when a decent percentage of this country thinks this way (& especially when the Democratic candidate is even now considering “good” Republicans for his cabinet).

One, you can be convinced that the conservative mindset is right without being consciously bigoted. Two, frankly, even if you were formerly consciously bigoted, you should be able to discuss THAT openly, too! A lot of us on this site have had conversations about how our views have evolved for the better. It’s distinctly a very good thing to foster an environment where people can publicly model what it looks like to change.

I don’t even care about JLaw in particular. She’s said & done shit she needed called on in the past. And, even that interview had that suspect “the fiscal benefits of some of the Republican policies” remark. Let’s call her on that, instead of her saying which party (in our famously two-party system) she used to support.

    Like, seriously, come on.

The idea that it’s Trump’s overt obnoxiousness that would be the primary reason someone would leave the Republican Party is what is suspect. It’s confirmed with her comments about the fiscal policies of the party. This is the type of person that would either jump right back over once Trump is gone or support the kind of liberals that would preach austerity and slash social security in order to say they helped balance the budget. This is not a good person and like I said in the politics thread you should be embarrassed if you’re 26 and it took Trump to realize republicans are bad. If you’re not embarrassed it’s because you probably just think trump is bad, not republicans.

My only issue with this is that I don’t see how you can be convinced of the conservative mindset without thinking poor and many predominately minority communities are in a cycle of poverty due to their own efforts (or lack thereof). I don’t see how that isn’t consciously bigoted.

It’s not super hard for someone, particularly someone fairly privileged, to be ignorant & apolitical enough to not realize all of those details & how they relate, though.

Surround a relatively comfortable & apolitical person around people who parrot Republican talking points, & they’ll probably end up accepting them at face value until something or someone educates them/wakes them up.

I know what my process as a slightly late bloomer was like. And, I’ve seen things like white people (conservative & moderate) in my church watching the documentary 13th, & having conversations with actual POC in the church/community, leading to them understanding some of these ideas even later than I did. And, I remember an old friend of mine I used to get in heated arguments with eventually figuring these things out on his own. So, I can say with confidence that this is a normal thing that happens.

(Granted, while my process eventually took me into a leftist ideology, most of the outside examples I can think of haven’t gone much further than the average establishment Democrat, lol. But, I’d love to believe some of their journeys still aren’t done... and, I’m still happy for some progress, just on a damage control level.)

This is back to the old conversation but I've pretty much pretended Andy Dwyer and Chris Pratt were two separate people since like 2014

Parks and Rec has such a sus cast that perhaps a reboot wouldn't be the worst thing. Keep Offerman, Aubrey and Adam Scott, start afresh with the rest.

Oh no, are Rashida, Amy, Jim and Retta problematic?

We'd at least need to keep Billy lol.

Amy is sort of not great by virtue of how her and the others in the UCB4 have been handling everything related to UCB in recent times

  17. I don't personally need them to remake everything that's had a crap person (or 5) in it. They already remake everything anyway. Let's not give them more reasons to keep doing it.

(I get why others might want it, and there's nothing wrong with that. Just saying how *I* feel.)

Oh yeah I think a reboot would be very silly, I assumed it was a joke but maybe I was wrong :crylaugh:

Yes to be clear i do not actually think it should be rebooted, thats pretty plainly a dumb idea, it was just a shitty joke to make the point that the show is filled with a lot of problematic people.
