There seems to be some internet talk of trying to kill her off and retool it. They did try that idea really early on in the original series.
it's interesting that this only comes up in this context, not singling you out but if Big Bang Theory or whatever was cancelled no one would care about people losing their jobs, not that I don't feel bad that other people are affected but this shouldn't have been a show in the first place
I think it comes up here as opposed to something like, cancellation from poor ratings, because it could so easily be avoided. Like one person with one tweet single handedly wrecked the entire show. Given her history it definitely should have never gotten the green light to begin with though, I agree. It sucks for the crew but I'm sure if they were able to get this job they'll be able to find another - frankly though I don't know how hard it is for established film crew to find work.
I think it’s just the suddenness of it all. If BBT were to be canceled it would most likely due to low ratings or something nebulous like that. This was on for one season (had good ratings I think???) and cancelled cause one person was an idiot. I think it should have been cancelled, but if I worked on the show I think I’d be upset because there is an actual person to blame whereas when shows just kinda fizzle out that’s just the nature of the business.
Yeah definitely what they said. And also mostly just because shows aren’t typically cancelled SO abruptly.
I wish she realized that every time she speaks she's hurting a legacy that means a great deal to a lot of people.
It blows my mind how much of a 180 she has done. To go from the original run where she gets mad and hits DJ and examines her own guilt and childhood in such a personal and insightful way and now on the revival basically says kids need to be hit, like I'm so sad and angry for what she has become because it's so opposite of what she achieved on the original run
Am I blanking or are there some sketchy stories about De Palma too? Googling doesn’t bring up much but I feel like something is rattling around in my head.
That may be it. I’ll try to dig a little deeper. I don’t think it’s necessarily a specific allegation I’m remembering but maybe a story about him being difficult to work with that rubbed me the wrong way. Or I may be mixing him up with another director of that age.
It may be this specific quote that stuck with me: De Palma has responded to accusations of misogyny by saying: "I'm always attacked for having an erotic, sexist approach---chopping up women, putting women in peril. I'm making suspense movies! What else is going to happen to them?"
That article also mentions the fact that he was her first kiss ever when they filmed Manhattan. Such a heartbreaking fact that has always been public knowledge as if it’s acceptable.
Brendan Fraser Says Golden Globes Organization Admits Member 'Inappropriately Touched' Him in 2003 Happened right around the time he started only starring in films that he self-produced (minus Center of the Earth and The Mummy franchise both of which he was already signed up for).
Wow. I saw a comment in the thread about the movie mentioning him but this is the first I’m hearing of it somehow. That’s just awful. Really not happy with Tarantino’s decisions or what is coming out about him either.
