I feel like this isn’t the first time he’s been involved in some sort of situation. Weren’t there rumors he cheated on Mariah Carey when they were married?
kareem is the best Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: Where Is the Outrage Over Anti-Semitism in Sports and Hollywood?
yalls GOAT put pretty much the exact same thing as what Cannon said on an album that topped the year end record charts and no one has brought it up
Yeah that is widespread throughout the hip hop community. I am genuinely too dumb to understand what they trying to say or if black Israelites are inherently anti-Semitic. Jay (Z and Elect) and a lot of other artists have those messages all over their albums.
From a lot of what I've read, it feels like for many it's a symptom of trying to rationalize living in an anti-black world. There's no excuse for it, all the resources are out there for anyone to read and grow. For some, I think it partially comes from seeing another oppressed group that's gone through an unspeakable trauma, but then attempting to reconcile why the fallout of the Holocaust and the fallout of slavery were so different, and like anything some get into trying to understand that and follow conspiratorial threads to ugly places. I hesitate to speak too much on it but I have been reading a lot, and a lot of brilliant Black writers have touched on the psychological trauma of being Black every day, and compared and contrasted it with the experiences of other marginalized and oppressed identities (obviously without drawing the same conclusions DeSean Jackson or Jay Z have). I'm currently reading Afropessimism by Frank Wilderson III, which hasn't so far directly addressed the specific idea of Black men turning to anti-semitism, but its analysis and theories have been enlightening in understanding the mental toll that worldwide anti-blackness inflicts.
black israelites are inherently anti-semitic, yes. their main point is that jews literally aren’t semites lol and have conned the world into thinking that they are. it’s an older ideology but has been popularized by farrakhan - noted antisemite - and has led former grand wizards of the actual klan to call black israelites their black counterparts.
james baldwin spoke eloquently on the issue in the 60s without delving into anti-semitism bc he, rightfully, viewed it as akin to the issues of the time for black people. more people should read baldwin and less should listen to farrakhan.
the frustrating part of the black israelite ideology coming from an anti-white standpoint is ... there are ~10m jews in this country and 15% of them are non-white lol. you’re attacking a group at large where a not-insignificant portion of that group aren’t actually the people you’re trying to attack (obviously wrongfully so). like, it’s a sweeping generalization based off a caricature that does not by any means represent the whole group.
he's from long island (and actually the town i currently live in more specifically) - literally every person i know who has had interactions with him have no pleasant things to say about him.
