Tramp stamp and wife beaters are both terms I grew up saying all the time and then one day was like wait wtf. But they're so ingrained in my vocab I always slip up.
there's gotta be a good point out there about this level of performative allyship being a red flag right?
He literally punched a woman and said it was okay because she was a masc lesbian so he thought it was a man
I still can't get over that Mack story. Like, just completely insane and horrific in every way imaginable. Every time something new comes out about it I just can't believe what I'm seeing.
I hate how unsurprising that is, luc has always been gross and his movies are such pure male gaze But I also know that isn't helpful
Insight like this always bums me out. So many women have normalized these experiences as what dating is, and it makes me sad
I have no idea why I’m just finding this thread today, and there are tons of great articles linked about various stories but this one in particular seems to have some odd history on the internet about similar behavior from him. I went to his Wikipedia page today to remember exactly what other shows he worked on and at the end of the bio out of nowhere it says, “He punched lead singer of Ninja Sex Party and Game Grumps star Dan Avidan in the crotch at Dragon Con once.[2]” I go to DC every year so that kind of shocked me, and sure enough it links to a video where Dan tells a story about being punched in the crotch by a “wasted” Thompson after approaching him as a fan and how his friend and co-worker came up right after and said, “It happens all the time, send me an email and we’ll send you some Archer swag.” This is framed as a totally hilarious story of how he clearly likes to “party” and is a funny guy, and all the comments are about how cool it would be to get kicked in the crotch by a famous person or how fun he sounds. It kind of blows my mind that a story like that is just out there in the open on a random YouTube video for years giving insight into someone’s behavior and enabling mentality of their friends. I’m glad more and more writers are combing back through old books and interviews and finding stories that slipped through the cracks or were just accepted at the time, but it’s still surreal to find something so unrelated and insignificant line up with something coming out now.
He got in a drunk driving accident with his young mistress in the car and it settled outside of court about ten years ago. This isn't surprising to me at all.
