This is why I use Jumbo Privacy. Cleans up all my socials. Besides, anything important (photos) I have saved.
I don’t really understand it because it’s like, do you guys publish EVERY book that’s submitted? No? Then you do understand the concept of just..not..publishing people. It doesn’t mean you’re censoring them. Jfc. Especially in the day and age when it’s possible for anyone at all to self publish if that’s what they desire to do.
I’ll always remember this joke tweet Scott Aukerman (that involves races) that he posted like ten years ago but I recently went looking for it and I think he had it deleted.
Cannot stress doing this enough. I've personally never tweeted anything offensive or obnoxious, but my FB is a bit of a different story so I use the "Memories from 10 years ago" thing to delete anything questionable. FB came out when I started college and I used it like a Live Journal - it's not pretty and downright embarrassing at times.
Yeah both my Facebook and Twitter start like 12+ years ago when I was in high school. needless to say I said a lot of dumb shit Words that were normalized became problematic (for good reason...or were always problematic they were just also normalized) so I’ve said all kinds of dumbass shit in my past. Like you said yeah I urge other people to do the same especially if there’s any chance of them being dug up in the future.
I've always had to be super careful about what I do and say on social media just because I could have gotten in trouble in terms of my football scholarship when I was in college, so I thankfully don't have any of those issues. But even knowing that, if I was ever in a position where I was about to become famous, I would probably still just delete all of my social media accounts and start over. The fact that this isn't standard practice this point for people, or a standard contractual requirement for studios when hiring new unknown actors/directors/whoever, is kind of mind-boggling to me.
The grooming stories she shared are fucked up. He’s one of the most influential writers in comics and him acting that way towards up-and-coming women creators is disgusting. Thankfully, the comic community is great and canceling him, like they should be.
That starts out in a way that makes it a nonapology. It’s really really hard to believe he doesn’t see his power and influence over other younger writers.
There is a massive movement starting in the wrestling industry, seems the dominoes are starting to fall
I know the comics industry is this weird little pseudo-celebrity bubble, but, like, he's got over two decades of being at the top of that industry (like, he & Bendis literally changed the face of mainstream American comics for years at the end of the 90s, come on). And, he's had success outside of comics (like working on that Netflix Castlevania series). People like this deep down do know, of course, that they're using their power to their advantage. They wouldn't be using it if they didn't on some level realize the footing they were on. The only thing that can make them reckon w/ it is having that footing shaken. True in Hollywood; true in politics; true in religious institutions; true in comics.
