I remember hearing Different on some movie soundtrack when I was in 8th grade, and I didn't want to check them out because I thought all their stuff sounded like Coldplay lol
What? I thought they decided they didn't want to go forward? What do you mean they never had a chance..?
I mean with that album really catching on and selling well. "So Contagious" could have been huge too. Lot of people had that as their Myspace profile song in 2006 lol
Different would've made for a fantastic single a little down the road, but making it the lead was a bad choice
They weren't even on my radar until Christian joined Anberlin. Then I became a big fan. 2007/08 or so I believe.
My bf at the time played a show with them and Emery so that's how I was introduced to them. Prob should have gone with So Contagious instead of Different as their first single.
"Take Cover" was always my favorite song off Phantoms. I think that could have been a great single too
I do love that song but I don't quite think it had that huge "anthemic" aspect that made songs like "Sugar We're Going Down" or "Move Along" huge that summer
Take Cover was my #1 but here lately it's been replaced with In the Cold. Can't get enough of that song these days. "I remember the train you came in on Everything I want kept calling I remember the chill that came over Everything I love went falling Time shows us that all that ever mattered All that ever mattered leaves us in the cold If you ever believe this is what you need It will spin around and shatter Throw you to the floor As it leaves us in the cold"
Doing a "first listen" (where I listen to the album and live blog my thoughts as I go through it and answer questions about it) for supporters: First Listen: Acceptance - Colliding by Design
What was wrong with "Different" as a single? Captured their sound pretty beautifully. "Take Cover" might've been a more energetic choice but I loved "Different" from the first note.
Just reminiscing when i saw these dudes back in 2006. Can't believe they're back making music. Phantoms still holds up to me after all these years. Gotta say I find the new song a bit lackluster, unfortunately.
