Right now the only song I don’t care for at all is Son. The last two are just okay. Hoping that the bsides round this out nicely
The b-sides are stunning (same with the album tracks). I'm eagerly anticipating the vinyl - definitely worth the wait, in my opinion. I couldn't be happier with this release!
Well, my feelings for MerchNow aside, it could be due to where you purchased the 7". I received my download for the b-sides from Benchmark (one of my favorite distributors). So, did you purchase it here: Acceptance : Tooth & Nail Records (MerchNow) or here: New Products (Benchmark) If it's the latter, then you should have the download. If it's the former...it's par for the course with them, sadly.
just heard back from them (merchnow). They said: “That will likely come as a download card in the actual vinyl” I’ll just cancel the merchnow order and go with benchmark.
Listened to this a few times already and really loved it. Gonna try and sit down with the documentary tonight
I must have different ears on than some people in this thread. This knocked me on my ass. This is what I was hoping for when they came back and finally am getting. Really feels like them again and the writing and production are absolutely on point. Wonderful. Do we know who those amazing duet vocals on Wildfires are?
I still don’t know much about what the lyrics are about beyond (I’m guessing) the expected themes of relationship ups and downs. Planning to check out the documentary and hoping that makes this click more with me. As it is now this is probably my biggest musical letdown of the year.
I have some friends who were so critical of this album that I held off, but... Dang. It's so good. It might have helped that I listened on a drive from San Fernando to Bakersfield and the mountains fit the vibes. There's nothing groundbreaking, but there's also nothing I don't really, really like. It feels like music I need right now. "At the Edge of the Earth" is a terrific closer. So uplifting.
Great album, production is top notch, this really sounds big. I’ve noticed some great drumming too, and it fits the colder days.
i wasn't expecting a record like this and sometimes it gets a little too earnest for me ("son of the city") but overall i'm really impressed with this record and like it a lot, especially "cold air," "wildfires" and "wasted nights." and the closer is a banger
Well, this officially grew on me, and now I feel pretty dumb for my earlier bashing. A few songs kept popping up in my head so I gave the album as a whole a few more chances, and I definitely formed a stronger emotional connection to it on repeat listens. I definitely hear a lot of Killers and Springsteen influence in the songwriting which is cool. I think once I set aside expectations and embraced what this album actually is, it was able to click with me.
