Later Anberlin vibes make sense considering Christian was a primary writer for both and both were produced by Aaron Sprinkle.
I keep thinking this sounds like a mashup between Anberlin and Paper Route. I'm liking this more than I expected.
Dude. I sent almost this exact post to my friend via text the other day. haha. EDIT: The Anberlin/Paper Route part
honestly, the only song i cant get into is 73. its just kind of bland and the guitar part is straight out of a U2 album. its ok, but just doesnt do much for me. The rest of the album is awesome. Been listening to it nonstop all weekend
I prefer the back half of this a lot more. Still need to give it more time. Haunted and Golden are probably my two standout tracks as of now.
On first listen, the only song that immediately latched onto me was "Come Closer." Kinda bummed that there wasn't more that stuck out to me. I'll give it a few more chances though.
That might be why I love it so much. It does have some Anberlin-ish vibes. Damn you, Christian. Stop doing things I love.
I think that's pretty decent considering they're a "cult band" more or less who hasn't released an album in 12 years. Under the old Billboard system they would've been #40, that's not bad.
It is kind of interesting to me that adding streams really didn't help the album much at all on the BB200. That number was a little surprising to me, but was happy with the album chart. Them being a 'cult band' made it hard to gauge where this was going to land. Hopefully they are able to tour/promote it enough to make it a success.
Often what I've noticed is big mainstream acts are often the ones who benefit most in terms of chart position from streaming being added, and smaller acts' chart positions usually suffer.
Finally listened to the album. It's cool, glad they're happy with it. Some of the songs sound like they could have come from the Search/Rescue project that Kaylan did with Bobby from Gatsbys. LOVED that record
