...Is that actually true in the "canon" of Tom & Jerry?

 

That’s just from an r/showerthoughts post lol. But there are definitely times where they get along. If I recall correctly, in many/most episodes there would often be some inciting incident where one of them acts selfishly and hurts the other physically or disrespects them in some way. Though there were times when one pursues the other in order to impress some other person, like Tom trying to catch him to show off to his human or a girl cat, or Jerry and a friend deciding to fuck with Tom.

I haven’t watched it since I was a kid but I feel very confident that most of that is correct lol
