4K UHD and Blu-ray for The Brutalist now available for pre-order. releases 3/25. The Brutalist Blu-ray - 4K Ultra HD
my suspicion is that if they haven't now, they probably won't. they've self-released a number of Blu-ray only films over the past few years that have never received a 4K upgrade. i'd like to be proven wrong, but i'd probably grab it now if you're wanting it.
the only thing i remember about this movie is that it was being billed as an "A24-type" movie to prospective major distributors, only for Mattel to walk it back and say it wasn't an "A24-type" movie, only to now find out A24 is distributing it themselves. weird.
I 100% know that this is a stupid idea that shouldn’t happen. I also, unfortunately, am split on if I will end up seeing it, with the “yes” odds being uncomfortably high.
i saw that and i get it. just find it funny they sold the idea as A24-adjacent, slightly walked back the claims, and came full circle with A24 as a distributor, lol
I trust Ayo and it sounds like it could actually be interesting if they nail what they want to do. Hire Rachel to co-write and star too and I'll be there opening night.
i'm approaching it the same way i approached Barbie. weird concept but not inherently opposed if done right
What is next they gonna make a Power Rangers movie about why 37 year old millennials can't pay their rent?
Look, is it possible that the right creatives could land on something that’s kinda Barbie meets I Saw the TV Glow and/or Nope, that’s interesting and works better than you’d think? Yeah, sure. But, this also makes me think of that gritty Power Rangers fan film. And of the decades of DC Comics work that’s super meta and treats nostalgia as sacred, and the other parallel/overlapping history of work putting “mature,” “realistic” weight on ideas that aren’t meant to carry it.
it's just so insanely obvious that they saw Barbie's success and said "what else can we do that with." it's so transparent and annoying but millennials will go see it for the gimmick and double-feature it with Christopher Nolan's Odyssey movie and turn it into a meme. dire stuff
