a different form of sadness: my novel now officially has 40 agent rejections which means i've officially breached the "this novel has a 99.99% chance of never being published" border unless my remaining 41 queries are positive reactions. so. that's four years of work that comes to literally nothing.

don't believe a single person who says they write for the money.

a friend and i each agreed to self-publish if we receive 250 rejections. after novel #1, i could/should be at 81.

self-publishing, with the exception of a very few books (The Martian, Eragon), pretty much guarantees you'll never see any of your books on a traditional shelf. i can't give up on that yet.

Are there even still traditional shelves?I thought we ruined that industry

Will libraries do anything for you independently of a publisher?

I miss the days where I didn't feel guilty for torrenting/didn't have a cease and desist letter from AT&T. There's about 12 audiobooks I wouldn't mind downloading that I already own the physical copy for and don't want to give up Audible credits.

Nah. Libraries only get books via donations, so unless your publisher is giving them it, it's probably not gonna happen.

My library is crazy. They have all the latest blu-rays. I checked out Preacher season 1 the other day. Love my library.

I live 4 miles from Knox County. The Knox County library system is absurd. But, I don't get access to it as a citizen of Loudon County. So. *fart*

Overdrive drove me nuts when I tried to check out a book on it one time.

    I love Overdrive.

Hoopla is good too although you can't DL to a separate device through it

Interesting. Do you remember what bothered you about it?

    I've never had any issues

I couldn't get it to move the mp3 to iTunes. Followed all the instructions and it wouldn't work.
