I kept getting rounds of interviews like that and in retail bc I had a degree they said I was overqualified. Finally at the last interview I had in retail where they said that and I was like, "You're telling me that bc I have a degree you won't hire me to fold clothes and do all of that crap. I can still do it even with a degree. Did you not read my resume I attached when I put in my application? Why did I even get the first interview if I was "overqualified" I was like fuck it and I'm not one for confrontation but I knew I wasn't getting the job so I just said how I felt. It's bullshit to get someone's hopes up when you've had to jump through 3 goddamn hoops to be told shit like that. /retailisbullshit

You aren't going through this for no reason. I know y'all think I'm nutso but I believe in energy and the moon and stuff and when you put out good energy you'll inevitably be paid back for your kindness and whatnot. It's hard not to but don't get down. Something perfect will come along and you'll see it was all coming to that point where you'll get a job you love and want. @Garrett L.

I've been meaning to ask do y'all write the songs as a group? I'm into lyrics that are relateable and you have that. I try not to tag you too much but I'm putting y'all out there as much as possible. Even had a couple DMs about y'all.

 

Thanks everyone! It's just frustrating beyond belief. I've been on the job search, despite having a retail and law firm job in there for a bit of time, for over five years now. I'm tired.

My younger brother and I, (he's just 1 and 1/2 years younger, so we're really close) write all of the songs. Usually he sends me songs and I pick out which I think could be "emerson" songs. Then I write melodies and lyrics over them kinda like a rapper would. If some parts don't work, we sit down together and mess with the arrangements a little bit, and make tweaks and whatnot.

It's always different though. We wrote Waves together in the studio, and Ships, he had all the music pretty much done and then we knocked that one out in 24 hours. That rarely happens though
One song on our album, "Ghost", I came up with the chorus for on guitar/vocals and then my brother made it better.

Really glad you like the lyrics though! I write ALL lyrics and vocals. I try to make it very personal but relatable at the same time, which can be hard. I spend a lot of time editing. Hummingbird, I rewrote 5 separate times. It started out called "Blackjack Oak", haha.
