Trying to squeeze every penny out of my insurance company for my totaled car. Parked and got smashed in by another driver

 

$400 max, including cover, etc. I'm thinking of a Weber Q series... had one before and loved it. This is for my deck and space is a priority... I was considering the Spirit E-210 at first but at $400 without a cover or propane it 's a little pricey. I'm only cooking for two... debating between the q1200 and the q2200 at the moment. The spirit would be awesome, but I've read mixed reviews and I'm thinking smaller is better.

Did you use a publicist ever, or do any paid promotion?

 

Nah, I've never had a publicist or paid for promotion

This is gonna sound incredibly narcissistic and I don't mean it to at all, but at the time I was releasing stuff, I had a LOT of connections in my area (including big promoters, venue connections, other acts loved me, etc) and a great following. As a result, I got to lay back, give the release to a few friends early, and just let the wildfire spread. I still have a pretty decent local following but since I had a child since my first release, I lost a lot of momentum I was supposed to upkeep and as a result plummeted. Since I'll be going under a new name with new stuff and making an entirely new style of music, I'm hoping I'll get a hard reset.

Well that's awesome. I have a very small following...prolly like 100 people that'll buy all the songs. I'm just trying to reach outside of my town by promoting a little. We used to have a VERY strong music scene with Go Radio, Mayday, Stages & Stereos all coming/playing here all the time, but it's been kinda dying due to a lack of venues catering to original music.

Yeah, it's different between our music scenes in general but especially different since I was playing hip hop. With my first release I had the luxury of releasing it for free and letting shows pay the difference, so I ended with about 2000 downloads and a good percentage of those downloaders did go to shows. The next release I did "pay what you want" and got about 500, my final release I did pay what you want online, and physicals at shows, and got about 100 hahaha. It was definitely a flop at the end.

 

Pay what you want seemed to work for me. Paid for our entire acoustic EP plus a little bit. You always get some people who will just take it for free, but you also get hardcore people who will pay like $100 for 3 songs, haha.

 

In the future I'm sure it'll work, I think people in my area just hadn't adapted to BandCamp at the time and weren't willing to deal with it. Since then that's changed quite a bit haha, it's been a long time since my last release.

This happened to my wife too. Car was parked at our apartment complex and drink driver crashed through the fence in front of my wife's vehicle and totaled only her car. No other car had damage at all! I was parked right next to her and didn't even notice it until I got a call at work about it

 

Probably not soon, my timeframe is winter 2018/2019 because I'm putting a LOT of work into this one, but if it does end up being sooner than winter 2018 I'm all for it haha
