My head hunting/temp agency contact got fired two weeks after we discussed what I was looking for and they forgot to reassign me to a new liaison for a year. I pray you have much better luck.

Yup. And I write awful cover letters. So I'm always coming from behind if I do make it to the next round.

For right now, it's to finish my gen ed degree I never finished years ago. After that, I want to get into computers and tech.

There is, it's called Missouri Career Source. I've used them a few times, mostly since you have you report to a physical location when you're on unemployment.

I've been cruising LinkedIn and Indeed. Can't find anything I really want to do, though.

I'm seriously considering going back to school to be a paralegal or something. The law is just fascinating.

 

I know it isn't for everyone, and you have other shit going on, but have you considered any type of military stuff? There is a ton of opportunity to get into those fields and get the training for free. Even in a reserve capacity. You don't even need to join a deployable service.

Plus, they will pay you to go to school. I'm making $2600 a month just to take a hand full of classes. Cannot beat that shit.

It's not for everyone, and we can all ignore this post.

I have been setting up goals for myself for the future lately and now there is no better time to get on it. They are as followed:
-Go back to school and finish the degree I never completed
-Go into computers/tech or some other field and build a foundation towards a career
-Get the fuck out of Missouri and relocate to the PNW

 

My LinkedIn looks great. Doesn't help me get shit.

 

I actually can't go into the military due to my hearing impairment. I tried to enlist when I was a teenager and I was turned away due to that.

 

It's how you get linked in to the Matrix.

 

Man, The Matrix was such a cool idea and the Wachowskis squandered any chance of that being anything more than a relic of the 90's and early 00's.

 

That's a bummer. I have a hearing impairment because of that shit. Haha.

 

All the major industries of Knoxville, I just do not have the required skill sets/training/education for. That drastically reduces the job pool.

And then this is very much a good ol boys network city. I moved here when I was 17, went to college at 18, then worked overseas for a year, so I didn't ever get a chance to establish any connections until I was already 23.

I don't talk to people on LinkedIn, but I apply for jobs and stuff with it. Idk. I've gotten a couple of recommendations from former coworkers on it. *shrug*
