The Butcher Was Here is the title of a poem in the book fwiw

 

it's tough. I like them all

 

I like Night Work but I think No Worries works better with the horse

 

The black and white photo with "The Butcher Was Here" in the bottom right corner I think is my first choice.
The horse with "No Worries" is second.
The artwork with "Kitchen Hymns" is third.

 

I can agree with both of those statements. I like the horse.

do you have an overall "mood" or ideological theme of the poem collection you want reflected in the picture or title? It's such a diverse collection of images and titles.

 

I think Night Work, for me, would need a different image than the five provided; though I do like the title. Also carries on a theme of titles with Uptown Fauna and I'm Your Astronaut, I think.

My first thought is like the suburban street with the one lamppost when Dumbledore and McGonagall deliver Harry to the Dursleys. (I know, "this generation needs to read more books" etc, haha.)

I like the title Night Work most

 

I've written about half of it and so far: there's a poem about a murderer, a murderous clown, my high school sweetheart dying, the feeling of wanting to get away from the place where I'm at, being in a rut, sorrow, anxiety, existential malaise, ennui. so, death and all the usual, I guess.

Night work is the best title.

 

so Night Work definitely seems the most fitting to these topics. do you want to play into dramatics with choosing a cover to reflect the title, or provide a tension with the cover/title that carries through the work? i love the horse, but it's an incredibly strong/defiant picture while Night Work and the topics at hand are a very quiet, almost "weakness" (not calling you weak; i think you get what i mean) type things, especially with the framing of "Night Work" where it gives off that vibe of thoughts and conversations in the darkest of night, when people are quiet and raw.
