I would argue for hours that You, Me & Everyone We Know is the most underrated "scene" band of all time. It's like if Say Anything wrote better melodies, better lyrics, and had a better singer. This is one of their better songs and is hitting me really hard both for personal relation and also because all of the societal implications are more real than ever.

He was cool

 

i’m swinging back and forth between furious and thankful regarding this job so quickly this morning.

 

To be fair that describes like 80% of scene bands

 

He is an alcoholic that spent like the entirety of the bands funds on himself, causing a breakup. He resurfaced a couple of years later and only performed solo for the first bit, eventually getting a new band together. He stayed clean, no problems arose, and he became very vocal about important things and was one of the only musicians to stand up about the Pure Noise/JJR debacle.

So he had his issues and paid for them but he's a really great guy and an unbelievable writer.
