I'd love a brief synopsis when you have a chance! How many pages is it? That's such an undertaking, you must feel really proud.

 

259 pages. A smidge over 73,000 Words.

It’s about a former sex slavery turned vigilante pirate trying to take down a sex slavery ring run by a magical organization. It’s a YA fantasy.

 

Wow, that sounds absolutely wild haha. Definitely unique and interesting! Do you have any plans for those 259 pages? Maybe you've already attempted something and I've missed it, in that case, I apologize. Does it take place in the present or a different era?

I just finished it. So it’ll sit dormant for two months. Then I’ll give them an intense edit. I need to get it closer to 80k for genre requirements. After my edit pass, I’ll send it to my betas. After their feedback and edits, it’s back to the querying stage I just finished with my first novel.

It’s set in a fantasy world, not ours.

 

Ah okay, I knew you said it had magic in it, so I wasn't sure if it was like a Harry Potter setup where magic existed in our current world or if it was completely different. I take it you must have done a lot of world building then? I have no idea how to write the way you do, but that part of the challenge seems especially fun to me. I hope when the time comes your intense edit proves to be very fruitful!

Yeah. Lots of world building. I was honestly lazier with it than I should’ve been at times. That’s a main focus of the next edit for sure. Sometimes it’s easier to just have characters talk for a draft and fill in the scenery later.

That makes sense. Try to get your story arc and characters sorted out and then fill in the details later. The story sounds awesome. I hope to read it someday.
