Again @Bloodsucker II since you mentioned it, what was it like growing up in a cult? Do any family members still participate?

I mean, it was obviously harmful being told that not only were non-Christians wrong, but even other Christian sects were incorrect. We were literally the only people who got it right. But I mean, I went to a Christian school that held different beliefs, I even went to public school for a bit, it’s not like I was trapped. I think I’d have a lot more to say if I believed it, more than anything it was just embarrassing. And no, my mom never talks about that stuff anymore, especially not to me. There are nine kids and I’d say four of us are atheists, two are “spiritual,” and the other three are your typical Christians.

 

Also, before he died my grandpa admitted that he got it wrong (duh) and that company has pretty much dwindled into nothing so I don’t think they really even exist anymore, but I don’t know

 

I think a lot of the people who were all about it were just unhappy with their lives and looked forward to it all ending, which is selfish, but really sad honestly. I personally know one guy who killed him self almost exactly a year after the world didn’t end. He was young too, but he devoted a lot of time and energy spreading the word and I think he was just unhappy in general and felt like there was nothing left. Pretty sad stuff

Interesting. I feel alot of this personally. I grew up Southern Baptist and remember hearing that same phrase that we were the only ones getting in to heaven. Didn't go to Christian schools or anything like that but I feel conflicted and kinda complicated towards my religious beliefs. I guess I consider myself atheist but really I just don't care at all and feel weird about previous stuff in my life not bring complete bullshit and whatnot.

So yeah thanks for sharing!

 

I guess if I really had to classify myself it’d be athiest-agnostic. I can’t say for sure that I know with 100% certainty that there isn’t a god, but I certainly don’t believe in one, especially not the one that is described in the Bible.

Yeah everything is all good. The nurse gave her a sedative and once she calmed down everyone got their shit done. No one has said anything to me about saying fuck so I'm not too worried anymore.

I am embarrassed to admit how many times I had to read this to get the joke.

 

I feel like “fuck” was an incredibly acceptable reaction to that situation haha

Never, to the best of my knowledge. Though, twice I have been in the ocean and saw a fin about twenty feet away but both times is was a dolphin praise jebus

It's such a knee jerk reaction for me. I try super hard to not cuss but it's so ingrained in my vocab sometimes it's like word vomit.

50ish yards once. I didn't see it at first but the people on the beach were freaking and waving at us to come in. My dad grabbed me and my sister and got us out. He saw it when we were in the water but I didn't see it til after we got out.
