They aren't truly acknowledging science, they're cherry-picking (as you said) the science that fits their narrative to shape what kids believe and to keep them believing in as much as they can, as long as possible. There's nothing about global warming in the bible and that *is* their truth. Not science. Not reality. They worship a god. What do their actions matter in the grand scheme of things? I think there is a shift happening in Christian thinking, slowly, but it's happening. Younger generations realize that this is actually a problem. The older ones don't give a shit and probably never will.

There's also a whole chapter of the bible dedicated to how the world will end, so if you believe in that--why bother believing that global warming could hurt you?

Haha, yeah. My grandad was Harold Camping (rip). He predicted the end of the world in both 1994 and 2011. It was obviously a big deal for me and my family but I’d understand if you have never heard of him, though he was on Larry King and had billboards all over the world. So while I was in high school I was being fed by my mother that the world was gonna end the next year. Good times. You’d think I’d be a lot more fucked up, but I’m not and I actually have a pretty good relationship with my mom.
