Spotify has been something I have paid for since Jason since me a beta invite back on AP. I couldn't live without it. I tried the free trial of Apple Music when it launched and the amount of missing content was egregious. I'm sure it's much better now, but I have 5 other people on my plan for a total of $15 a month and I'm not about to switch. It's introduced me to little bands I would have never otherwise heard of.

I also blow tons of money on shows/merch so the artists get their dime one way or another

Bad, but all streaming services are/forever will be because of b-sides so often being brick and mortar retail exclusives. You can import local files into Spotify to fill out the gaps though, although the process is pretty cumbersome.
