I can't believe people's reaction to it. I loved it from listen one. Past me would be so fucked up that Ke$ha, Lorde, and Swift will probably round out my top 5 aoty

i loved it after the music video. taylor has been #1 for me in 2012 and 2014 so i'm not THAT surprised she's there, but kesha for sure. lorde may not make my top 10 anymore. it's getting intense in the 6-10 range.

 

Colby don't

 

Lorde is my #2 atm. Some stuff I really expected to rock my world, like the new Menzingers, may not even make my top 10. Weird year for ol' Cam.

 

Lorde is my #1 for sure out of all those artists.

Albums I've played the most this year are definitely Foster the People and The Maine.

 

Brand New, Chris Stapleton, Kendrick is a top three that will take A LOT to crack. But it wouldn't be the first time Taylor has taken a spot Kendrick should've won.

 

The Kesha record is what really fucked my list up. Even the songs I disliked I've come around on.

The only 3 albums I remember from this year that I've listened to and enjoyed are NFG, Silverstein, and Emerson

 

I love new Brand New but it's not a front-to-backer for me which is my highest bar. It's better music than a lot of other stuff, but I'm almost guaranteed to skip a song or two depending on mood.

 

Oh yeah and Bleachers and Kendrick!

 

NFG may not make my list but it'd be at the top of honorable mentions, just so much fun

 

Ugh and I love that Album

 

Also, The Black Swan is incredibly underrated.

 

So far, the only albums I've loved are Brand New, Manchester Orchestra, and Mount Eerie. Nothing else has really hit me.

Honorable mention: Father John Misty - Pure Comedy

Most disappointing album: Grizzly Bear - Painted Ruins

I still need to delve into the latest Fleet Foxes. Haven't really given that an honest listen.

 

If I had to list 'em:

1. Smith Street Band - More Scared
2. Lorde - Melodrama
3. Born Without Bones - Young at the Bend
4. Brand New - Science Fiction
5. Kesha - Rainbow

ManOrch is right below that, and will prob overtake 5. Still have Taylor Swift, Moms, Hard Girls, and others to come. I have suspicions that Red City Radio will have a proper release out by the end of the year and that will probably shove it's way in pretty easily if so.

 

I have a lot of albums I loved upon first listen, but have yet to return to them: Jason Isbell, Manchester Orchestra, Calvin Harris, Kesha, Dua Lipa... but, besides BN/CS/KL, I've also rarely returned to any album more than twice this year.

 

I love ManOrch but it's too emotionally resonant for my sad ass right now. They are kinda me and Elena's band so I'm staying away from them which is a travesty haha. If I let it fuck me up it'd prob be top three.
