It's just the best story in combat sports history. The winningest boxer in history, at 49-0 can walk away at age 40 as 50-0, or he can get it all ruined by arguably the winningest competitor in MMA.

I assume the former is Mayweather? Also, isn't McGregor relatively new to the sport, so that's also why it's a big deal? Like didn't he do a lot in a short period of time? I know very little tbh

I don't know anything about sports but one time I went to a place to watch a fight with some friends and we all placed money on people having zero knowledge and that was actually a lot of fun

 

Mayweather is the former, yeah. McGregor is a MMA fighter.

McGregor. I don't like him, but I've heard zero of him beating his lovers so I'll take him any day
