I felt physical happiness when I heard Ventura's voice on CBB this morning. The only good part about Stitcher being awful is I never have the guests spoiled because it fails to let me see their names lol.

And I'd certainly be in, I just gotta make a dungeon or something else to do, prob gonna spend all tomorrow night working out kinks and stuff

Same here hahaha. Ending Y is gonna be a pain to get. I'm only at level 58 so grinding to 99 will suck.

    Anyway:

9S attaching the 2B unit's arm to himself may be the most haunting scene I've ever watched. I feel like it all goes back to 2B's conversation with Adam in the Copied City: where Adam mentions that humans are just designed to kill and destroy and 2B refutes it, calling it a lie. They were both right, humans kill but there was so much more to it than that, and it becomes apparent as 9S tears through The Tower and through the earth after losing 2B - versus A2 who was solely designed with the purpose of killing due to her early model creation.
Top 3 most humorous scenes were probably: 9S's pod calling life a constant stream of embarrassment, 2B's pod questioning A2's intelligence in the tower during the hacking sequence, and 9S debating his pod on why apartment complexes existed (side note: it's so intriguing how Yoko Taro executed that. These androids who have no idea how humans lived's first instinct upon hearing about apartments is to think it's because of a lack of space or overpopulation. When the idea of humanity being separated by wealth comes into play, it's the most absurd thought on earth to them. I feel like there's such a strong social message to the game behind the already-emotional game it is, starting with that exchange, continuing with the difference between the "emotions are prohibited" androids and the machines who clearly love each other, and ending with the philosophy hinted at in the game, with the androids being given generic codenames while the machines are named after philosophers - many of them Communist - and Pascal reading Nietzche.)
Speaking of Pascal, I already have to take back what I said about the 9S scene in The Tower. 9S meeting Pascal in the village after Pascal's memory was wiped was by far the most haunting scene. The machine children killing themselves was bad enough, but seeing the blissful ignorance after the memory wipe gave me so many chills.
How unbelievably accurate is it that Yoko Taro had the humans creating the androids' black boxes from machine cores? It's a perfect representation for what we tend to do: we take things that work well (the machines, who served their purpose in wiping out humanity), modify them to be beautified while taking away the things that made them effective, and watch them fail as we profit enough to build a goddamn bunker in space.
Come to think of it, why did the aliens/machines never attack the bunker? It makes me wonder if they ever really attacked the humans, or if the grand purpose really was just to study them in the first place, and the humans saw it as an attack and retaliated, causing their own demise instead of just letting the aliens learn and build with them.

I literally had chills when 9S took 2B's arm and attached it. The amount of emotion the entire tower scenes had was just incredible. Then finding out that 2B was designed to kill 9S every single time he gets close to the truth is just so depressing. Especially when you go back and think of the conversations they had. She doesn't want to call him Nines because she doesn't want to get too close and attached again, but she also wants to feel some sort of closeness to him, with her telling him to not call her m'aam. It just turns the whole game upside down when you think about the first playthrough, and completely changes how you view 2B and her interactions with him.

I was seriously dying at every interaction with the pod and A2. The humor was so on point, and was really needed after the dark turns the game was taking.

Yoko is seriously a freaking genius, to be able to execute this insane concepts and ideas and to actually make it work and feel complete. The naming of the Androids v. the Machines is seriously such a small little note, but it does so much in the grand scheme of things.

God.. the memory wiped Pascal in the village, having no clue what happened, and selling the machine parts of those he lived with is just so incredibly sad and haunting.

I may have misunderstood, but I thought the machines didn't attack the bunker, because even though they wanted to destroy the Androids, they knew they needed them around for the continuous conflict, because if they were to kill the Androids, they would no longer have a purpose. With them starting to gain human emotion and ideas, they didn't want to go ahead with a life without a purpose, even though their sole order was to destroy.

There's also a small note about 2B/9S that I had read elsewhere: 2B's operator constantly has emotional conversations with her, but 2B never tells her emotions are prohibited. In fact, the only android she tells that to is 9S, as if she's only saying it to tell herself that as well. .

I had forgotten about Pascal selling the machine parts! God that's so heartbreaking.

You maybe right about the need for continuous conflict, but I feel like the machines may have always had emotions/ideas. Since 2B and 9S did not ever get to really observe the machines before that first mission (remember: 9S's memory was wiped after the first mission in the game so his past scanning would have been lost, whereas it was the 2B unit's first time on earth), it's possible that the machines always did have their own emotions/ideas, but the two androids never knew it. I feel like they developed their own purpose outside of attacking the androids, with their villages (both Pascal's and the desert/forest villages) giving them some kind of sustainability - and the androids threatening that sustainability.

Yeah, I feel like the operator telling 9S that was to try and not get attached to him again as well, and almost try and discourage him from being the 9S that 2B loves but will have to kill because of his curiosity.

I agree, it did seem like they found another purpose with the villages in the desert, forest, and amusement park. Maybe this was their way of trying to find another purpose, so that they wouldn't have to destroy the androids? It's interesting to think about. Especially the desert machines, who don't want to fight and continue to ask why you're trying to destroy them. These machines may have found their new purpose in their tribe and want to avoid the trouble.

Everyone should play Nier because this game has made me think more than any other game prior. It may be a top 10 of all time for me, I need more time for it to sink in but it very well may be

It definitely is for me, I feel like enough time has passed to say it.

I also love that the first line in the game is called back at the end, to show that the first thing 2B ever says is the exact purpose of the androids as a whole.

I also recommend reading about Jean-Paul Sartre (who Jean-Paul in Pascal's village is named for) and Simone de Beauvoir (who Simone in the Amusement Park is named for). Both of their characters closely mimic the philosophies both speak of (Jean-Paul being unable to find a purpose in life and seeing his freedom as a prison, and Simone being a victim of gender construct who seeks tangible improvement for an intangible feeling). They're both very interesting people even though they're kinda garbage too.
