Maybe... I just don't care that much for sad guy indie rock

So many bands people love I just can't connect with when I try

Then again I like stuff like Pinegrove

I feel you, life is sad enough I don't want music or movies to make me feel sad I want to feel joy

 

I honestly want to feel like a fucking piece of shit after I watch a movie. Not even joking.

 

I mean, if a movie makes me feel good, that's fine, but I hate "feel good" movies as a genre. But a movie usually has a more profound effect on me if I leave it in somewhat of a melancholic state

 

I mean I like sad music, but so many of the popular ones around here I just find uninteresting

I do like some sad music like Death Cab but same I don't really connect to most of what everyone else does unfortunately

Sometimes I feel like I'm missing something because people here will just eat up something that sounds completely bland to me

Nah, don't force it. Like what you want and don't let others make you feel lame for not liking what they like

 

I just wish I got more passionate/excited about music or you know anything

Someone asked me once for one piece of art--whether song, book, poem, etc.--that best made up what my depression experience felt like. "Degausser" by Brand New was literally out of my mouth before the question was finished. I don't think without that deep, albeit dark, connection, I'd hold them AS high. I love YFW and Deja, but TDAG is what made it so much more.

 

it's absolutely incredible.

 

I think it's also a factor that I have a short attention span and can't focus on lyrics unless I've heard it a ton so that part is less important to me than sonic aspects

 

there's a degausser callback on this album and it kinda made my heart stutter a second

But yeah, I mean, you like what you like. Most of my favorite albums are super "emotional" but they have their time and place. When I'm biking along the beach I'd prefer to listen to the latest Paramore album or Tame Impala or something like that. While you shouldn't force yourself to try and like something, I also think it's always good to try new things. For example, I have actively disliked Paramore for their entire discography but decided to give their new album a shot and I love it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

i think you may like the guitar work on this one, then. it's more bluesy.

Bout to have a listen. weird morning. Woke up to a text from this girl saying to have a nice life and that she won't be talking to me anymore BUT I also woke up to a new Brand New album. Thankfully I have my priorities in order.

 

Also said text was receive because I replied to her with a "kk" while I was literally half asleep. Fell back asleep, woke up, was about to text her and then saw that so I was like loool o k then.
