Sea Bass is so damn expensive. It's good, but I prefer Halibut and Sablefish.

Pretty much all fish tastes the same to me. Except salmon and catfish.

 

I don't get it, to be honest. Haha. I think Alaskan Halibut is the king. Maybe I need to try it again. It's been a few years. I'm just always turned off by the price and my memory of it not being outstanding. I know most people go absolutely crazy for it. For me, I go crazy over halibut, black cod/butterfish/sablefish, and cod. Tuna is a whole different conversation haha.

If you put the word "Chilean" in front of "Sea Bass" it immediately costs twenty dollars more and tastes better, I hear.

 

I've heard Chilean Sea Bass isn't sustainably caught and people should avoid eating it too. But I have no idea if there's any truth to that.

 

I love cod, halibut, and tuna! I've never had sablefish.

I had some amazing halibut a couple weeks ago.

Sea bass when it's done right for me is just like holy shit. The meat is the most tender ever. And if it's seared with a hint of teriyaki. That's it for me.

You've convinced me to try it again haha. Sablefish is sometimes called black cod or alaskan black cod or butterfish (if you ever go to Roy's Hawaiian Seafood, I highly recommend it there)... Fish can be so confusing. Like the fact that Chilean Sea Bass isn't even Sea Bass? It's almost too much to follow.

 

I will eat any fish. In certain parts of Florida you might find them searing up salty spare tires or maybe an owl that they found marinating in the ocean and it's STILL good.

...okay, i'm not eating owls and tires (I think), but I really will eat almost any fish.

I'm trying to think of a fish I dislike... orange roughy. Yeah. Orange roughy is gross. My mom used to make it topped with black olives and cheddar cheese. Haha, it was awful. (sorry Mum.)

 

Oh I didn't even know that about Chilean sea bass. The sea bass I've been eating the last year has just been called sea bass. It's still a bit pricey but not alot more than salmon or something.
