Honestly could be better, but I called them today to talk to them about how I had a rough weekend and I think they liked that I was open with them since I tend to keep these things to myself. I'd say we're moving in a positive direction. Our relationship has never been bad, but I've certainly drifted away.

My dad was going into a rant the other day about how he thinks it's stupid that "we're not allowed to say 'retard' anymore" and I spoke up and explained why it was bad. He actually thanked me for explaining it to him and said he'd never say it again.

Honestly I'm kinda against all of them (including weed) but I'm beginning to see benefits of legalizing weed and trying to be better and not so judgemental. I will say alot of people in here have actually helped

My family's mainy problematic-ness is my Mom since her car accident (woman ran a light i guess) thinking Puerto Rican people as a whole are out to get her and I'm like "Mom.... I'm pretty sure a whole race of people has bigger things to concern themselves with than you."

Don't ask me for explanations beyond that........ nothing makes sense to me, your guess is as good as mine. Weird cus my Mom was never like that prior so idk... it really makes me uncomfortable... and plenty; myself included, have told her better.

No but that is really interesting. My mom, a 67 year old hardcore Bible thumpin Christian who loves Jesus and told us growing up that weed is bad is now 100% for it. It has exponentially helped a couple of her siblings who have health issues. Also, my brother operated an organic pot farm in Santa Cruz for a few years so she was exposed to it all. If she can change her views on it, anyone can. I don’t even smoke but I fully support it.

that's good. I'm glad this thread can open your mind up to things. marijuana has done a lot of good for people with cancer, diabetes, Parkinson's, MS (my disease), HIV, and countless other ailments, too.

 

I've literally only ever met one Puerto Rican person ever in my life. She seemed really nice and didn't mention your mom once fwiw.

 

How I feel about drugs?

I'm personally against them, so I don't do them. I've never even tried alcohol. I think the drug war was a bad idea that hurts families. I think we need more studies about the effects of marijuana, but as of now, I'd much rather be subscribed MJ than painkillers, because I've seen painkillers ruin the lives of people close to me.
So I think the question is more nuanced than being for or against them because there's such a wide range of them.

Its so odd, and it's funny cus the only gf I've had my Mom ever liked off top was *le gasp* Puerto Rican. So all together it's ridiculous, nonsense, and all my family roll their eyes at it.
