One thing I noticed was a bunch of scenes with tracking shots, particularly with the song performances

I need to get someone who looks at me the way Jackson looked at Ally when they did Shallow on stage for the first time

The one flaw for me is Ally's manager. Just too much of a caricature. Everyone else was real.

I was really not prepared for how devastating this ended up being.

honestly my “least” favorite part (i view this as like near-perfect) is how emotionally manipulative the ending 15 or so minutes is

I didn’t like the SNL part, and well like any scene with the manager lol

SNL part was really good, including the stuff with Bobby backstage. one of my favorite scenes, actually, because you can really sense Jackson's discomfort. the performance is supposed to be bad.

Agreed tbh. Not awful, but it was all a little much. Even Gaga’s last performance, which was a bummer cause I loved all the other musical numbers.

the only other thing i didn't love was the "this one goes out to my husband jackson!!" line during her final performance before the ending. definitely felt "real" and what a young popstar with an obviously impaired husband, but it also seemed a little corny.

to be clear, this is my favorite thing i've seen in a long time and the first thing i wanted to see again right after leaving

SNL added authenticity to depicting her success. Considering Coops and Gaga performed there in the past, I’d imagine NBC/Lorne Michaels had no problem in shooting the movie there. Though, even though I barely watch The Grammys, the venue in the movie looked smaller than where they typically hold it.
