Everyone always says they are Jim from The Office but I always felt more like Stanley or Toby.

People can be glad theaters are back without having a right wing agenda

  4. Most shows have a character everyone wants to be and a character everyone actually is. Jim/Toby is that for the Office.

Jeff Nichols has followed the David Gordon Green career path, it seems.

I’m very uninterested in a “fear the walking dead” approach where they decide to potentially follow another group of survivors - if thats maybe where this is going

Wife and I went to see it this morning. First film we’ve seen in theaters since the pandemic started so we opted for a time we figured would make us feel less paranoid. We’re both vaccinated and there was no one in the theater except us so that worked out nicely.

Enjoyed it overall even if it is mostly a retread of the first with another reveal about a second weakness in that the aliens also can’t swim so islands are a potential safe haven. They do a good job in these films ratcheting up the tension by use of parallel editing. Since I knew the ending was going to be abrupt again it didn’t bother me as much going in since I figured they’re probably setting up for a third and, well, lo and behold.

I don’t think they’d abandon these characters entirely for a third. These movies basically belong to Millicent Simmonds’ character at this point. So my guess would be that maybe they might start off a third story sort of like how they start off this one, with the beginning of the invasion but this time from the perspective of another family or group. Then jump back to the Abbott family and they all meet up somehow and maybe Millicent gets a love interest this time around, thereby closing the story with the promise that humanity will continue on with the next generation.

Wait Scoot McNairy was in this? Supposedly the long haired bad guy on the boat sick? IMDB just has him listed as “marina man”.

Enjoyed this — the clear aging of Marcus took me out of it a little. Would’ve worked best had it been filmed back-to-back, but I guess this was a better option than recasting him or going the It 2 route.

I enjoyed this so much. One of the few horror sequels I’ve enjoyed more than the original.

this could’ve been really good, and i appreciated the spielberg vibes i got out of it, but like everyone else i was bummed with how it dropped the ball in the finale. still, yet another great showcase for millicent simmonds, if nothing else

    justice for djimon, obviously

My fiancee and I saw this Sunday night. It was solid.

I think the pg-13 rating holds it back some but fun for what it is.
