It's the closest they've gotten to sounding like Mer De Noms / Thirteenth Step since Billy's Ashes Divide album. I dig it.
Very, though I'm biased because I heard it before any APC albums and it was kinda a formative listen for me. I remember ripping the single and the incomplete version of an album track from their myspace page and replaying them over and over again in late 2007. It's like a poppier take on APC's signature sound at times. These were my favorite tunes: Billy also did the soundtrack for Jak X in-between, which leans more towards industrial rock with some APC vibes here and there. A couple of the instrumentals featured in the game were repurposed for Ashes Divide iirc.
This one slapped as well Didn't get into his recent solo album though. Was quite the departure sonically and vocally.
Oh god the nostalgia hearing Ashes again. Played the hell out of that LP in the spring of 08 and have rarely revisited since. Def a step down from the OG APC material, but solid record with a few real gems.
Last night I got to see A Perfect Circle for the 3rd time at Brixton Academy in London and they were absolutely incredible from the start to finish! The band sounded tighter than ever before, it's great to see Josh Freese back in the band and a surprise for me... Greg Edwards from the band Failure was playing guitar and keys for APC and Maynard James Keenan.. holy fuck that guy was on fucking point the entire time.. absolutely incredible singer and Billy Howerdel is an awesome guitar player and performer!! Usually they.. well Maynard has a no taking pictures and video policy at any of his bands shows but last night he let the crowd take pics and videos for the last 2 songs instead of the last song so I took as many pics as I can before putting the phone back down!
You r in for serious treat, they r on incredible form at the moment live!! Greg was awesome with APC!!
