yeah 6 episodes is probably about enough I think. ANd yeah you won't see huge battles in this, more intrigue and sword fighting/dueling/etc
Like I thought we were gonna be getting a trailer and release date in the next week or two, was assuming June. Wtffff
A guess is that since TLOU apparently isn’t filming until next year now, they may be pushing it to have something bigger for next year. Idk what the timeline for HotD is currently either.
Really interested to see how this does. Fantasy television genre feels like it's in a pretty big slump. Wheel of Time canceled. Rings Of Power season 2 viewership collapse. HOTD season 2 barely talked about after it aired and ignored at awards nominations. Now what sets his a part is that (if it stays true to the source material) it should be a lot different in scope than any of those other shows. More intimate and small in scale. No crazy expensive CGI dragons or huge battle scenes. Should be much cheaper to produce and scratch a different itch genre wise than all the GoT clones who are trying to be sweeping epics and failing to catch on with audiences currently.
Unless they do flashbacks to the First Blackfyre Rebellion then probably not. This takes place during a time in Westeros in the aftermath of a major war that happened a dozen years prior during a shaky tentative peace. So no major battles. Also takes place during the era where the Dragons are gone. I think future novellas are supposed to show the Third Blackfyre Rebellion but GRRM hasn't gotten there yet. Dunk & Egg novellas are much more like straightforward medieval adventure stories than sweeping fantasy epics. I don't personally think this comparison is super apt because they are still very different, but the closest thing I can think of that is similar is The Mandalorian.
Holy shit that looks so good. Exceeded my expectations honestly. apparently it’s only gonna be half hour episodes too which makes sense, was wondering how they were gonna squeeze 6 hour long episodes out of this lol
