Thought this was fantastic. Sebastian Stan and Adam Pearson were amazing. I’m pretty enamored with the score as well
I didn’t dislike it but everything felt very rushed and not earned if that makes sense. We see him post transformation for 2 seconds before he’s trying out for the play and trying to be his old self again.
Yeah that’s why he initially tries out but then is quickly back to being/acting like himself prior to transformation. Just a ton stuffed into a 2 hour movie that didn’t totally work for me. I’m glad others loved it though.
i mean … it seems pretty obvious the takeaway from the movie is getting what you want won’t fix you/make you better? seems like the whole point is that he wouldn’t change from who he is because the transformation
Yeah but I would have liked to see him grapple with that more post transformation. Give us 10-15 minutes of him at his new job etc before the play stuff and then cut the final 10-15 minutes which didn’t work for me at all.
It's almost Old Testament punishment. You don't see a lot of movies willing to drag their protagonists through it like that. It's what makes it so funny.
The full-body cast while he's just seething in their house feels very Looney Tunes (complimentary). I want to watch this again.
