They have been trying to get radio play by pivoting to butt rock for years now it feels like but it’s not working because it’s garbage and no one cares
lmao “at least the song is short” was my reaction too. such a bummer. the last two albums have done nothing for me so i don’t know what i expected. mindreader was a good song tho, and i’ll take whatever this 2 minute mess was over ever hearing Degenerates ever again.
I thought after the poor reception to the last album and the quick release of Miracle they could bounce back. I know they desperately want to be radio rock for some reason, but this really isn’t it. All they needed to do was to release a pop structured song with chugs and the fans would love it. I guess they can always fall back on nostalgia to sell re-releases and tickets. This makes the new TGI album sound like a masterpiece.
you’re so right, theyve done dozens of pop structured songs with chugs that could’ve gone to rock radio, they can still do it but their execution of songs are bizarre right now.
This song is not good at all. My biggest issue is the production but it's more of a genre / industry wide thing. The drums / guitar / everything really sounds like so compressed and digitized and clean. I want the trend to be less polish across the board.
Judging by the comments here, I probably like You’re Welcome more than most, but this is… yeah, not it
I legit thought everyone was exaggerating when I was reading things about this song yesterday and then i listened to it this morning. It’s an awful song, an awful awful song. Maybe their worst. Maybe the rumors about Josh being the song writer and there being contracts were all true. But they gotta figure something out. Cause they will fade fast if this next album bombs.
There were never rumors of Josh being the songwriter? Their drop-off started with Bad Vibrations anyways
Other than Miracle, I do not listen to the last (now) 11 years of their discography. I would suspect many fans are the same at this point. Is that sustainable for that young of a band to effectively be a “legacy act” at this point? (SORRY ADTR FOR THE FEEDBACK I KNOW YOU DID NOT ASK)
I liked Bad Vibrations but after the shittiness with Josh I'm fine with them making music I hate and can easily ignore
