Dreadfully bland, all of it. Clearly trying to manoeuvre onto the heavy rock charts and now sound like a poor man's I Prevail or something.
So my local record store has physical copies of the CD and is hosting a listening party. I do have to say, drumming up sales due to it being released exclusively in a physical format first is a good idea. Unfortunately, here I think people will think, "ADTR knows the only way people will buy it is they don't hear it, because it sucks so bad". Seems they won't be far off.
If I was keeping stats in last.fm since high school and not college, I'm guessing Homesick would be up there with my most listened to albums of all time. Just a super fun album, especially when I was a kid just driving around town goofing off with my friends. Sad to see it come to this.
The drop-off is real with this band! They had everyone eating out of the palm of their hands when Homesick came out, me included. Surely they're not delusional enough to not see this themselves?
The songs everyone here hates still have millions of views and plays ... like, "Feedback" has over 600k streams on YT alone. "Miracle" has 14 million. I don't think they're chasing the Homesick fans anymore and from what I've heard they're doing very well for the FBR world.
Miracle fans liked but Feedback was mostly hated everywhere I looked. Rightfully so cus that song is fucking garbage. These two new songs, also pretty bad.
Yeah they aren’t chasing the Homesick fan at all. Like 90 percent of metalcore/post hardcore bands from that era they are chasing the Sirius Octane crowd with generic ass poppy butt rock sound. They aren’t the only band doing it, but the quality is far worse than most other bands.
Just listened to the new songs and oof they are bad. Must be nice to put out effortless garbage and be successful as ever.
Yeah everyone united in hating "Feedback" and then they headlined a 5k-10k cap tour two months later. Is putting new material out even going to give them a real boost from where they've been at? Their back catalogue has kept them in large rooms and small hockey arenas for a decade now.
Make it Make Sense is a perfectly solid opening track for an album imo. not my favorite opener of theirs but i wasn’t disappointed. Lebron wasn’t really my thing. Miracle was great. Feedback was pretty bad, but fun live. idk man. anything is better than Degenerates.
Yeah if this style wasn’t selling for them they’ve would’ve done the classic “getting back to our roots” throwback sound of homesick on one of these later records still can’t believe that LeBron lyric shared in the press release is real lol
Bad Vibrations got to #2 album on the Billboard 200. You’re Welcome got to #15. Interested to see how this does.
They’ve changed their sound enough to fit into modern rock, so I’m sure this will do fine enough for them. I’ll just be holding onto those earlier records when I need that trip down nostalgia lane.
Haven't listened to them since the first singles of You're Welcome before You're Welcome was even fully announced, not sure if I want to listen to them here either. Of course their general shittiness with the Josh stuff is the main cause of that, but also seems like I'm generally not missing out on much. I actually thought Bad Vibrations was alright, but For Those Who Have Heart was their bread and butter to me and I can remain content with that
