I am a sucker for biopics and it got me hook line and sinker. great performances and helps Mangold knows how craft an actual film. good time.
Thought this was pretty good. Surprised how much time it lets songs just be. Maybe could have used more personal story but that wouldn’t be very Bob, would it?
Good not great. Very good performances but doesn’t feel like a movie I’ll ever want to return to. I had very little knowledge of Dylan going in
I very much disliked the first twenty minutes, but Timmy’s performance really drew me in. The fawning adulation from everyone who initially heard him sing seemed like an overly hagiographic touch at first, but I get that they were setting up the second half for when he burns it all down. This sounds weird but maybe like a few too many songs for my liking? The last five or six were perfectly sequenced for storytelling though.
All of the stuff with Woody was great IMO behind the bastards podcast just did 2 episodes on him this week (a non-bastard as a Christmas treat, although he wasn’t without faults)
I thought this was great. My 2nd favorite film of the year behind Dune 2. I really liked the performances, especially Chalamet, Norton, and the actress that played Baez. My only slight complaint is the runtime, but nonetheless it was great.
