Thought this was solid. I like Timmy, but it feels like sometimes he's leaning way too hard on Dylan's garbled, kind of lazy way of talking rather than giving him charisma and personality. Also, not really sure what the takeaway here is - Johnny Cash is an unknowable asshole, but also a genius? Production is pretty incredible and some of the live songs are very solid, as expected from Mangold. And Boyd Holbrook is excellent as Cash. Wish we got a Cash movie with him.
I knew the story and had seen the docs, but I'm otherwise a pretty casual Dylan "fan". I thought this was pretty good. Timmy and Monica impressed me with their playing and singing. The emotional stuff didn't really hit for me but the music and acting wasn't bad.
Timmy fuckin nailed it. The singing scenes were 10/10 sometimes the quick dialogue scenes its like oh thats just a guy doing a dylan impression but it still sounds just like him. Really didnt expect to love his portrayal so much. Norton great, Holbrook great, Monica great. Wanna see this again asap.
I assumed they censored his iconic response to the Judas cry so they could get a PG-13 rating and more teen girls could see Chalamet, but it is already rated R so it is just stupid.
This site is pretty tough on movies so I'm really glad to see that everybody enjoyed this. Stoked for tonight.
Boyd and Scoot can't be in the same movie they're the same person I think they did the best with a biopic of as the movie showed a pathological liar, I don't think Bob knows if he was actually in the circus Ed Norton always the goat
