One of Nicolas Jaar's side projects, this is absolutely unreal. Surprise release last Saturday. Nicolas Jaar Quietly Dropped an Album Last Week and Almost Nobody Noticed | Pitchfork 01. This Old House Is All I Have 02. I Never Dream 03. Some Kind of Game 04. Hopeless 05. Know You 06. Such a Bad Way 07. Cityfade 08. Now U Got Me Hooked 09. Flash in the Pan 10. You Are Going to Love Me and Scream 11. Rave on U
Tight, I haven't been able to listen in full yet but ran the previews of every track and it all sounded p amazing
this is WILD I Never Dream and Some Kind of Game back to back is incredible. Love the soulful sample hip hop stuff. The synths in Rave On U are crushing, what a magnificent closer.
every time i drive the only song i wanna hear is rave on u, and ever since i get to my destinations really quickly. i cant not speed with those synths.
the most obvious pitchfork thing ever is that if this wasn't known to be nico this wouldn't have gotten a score this high, haha. not having anything to do with quality of course still gotta listen
agreed with you, it really is that good imo but under any other name 90% of ppl that like it wouldn't care
It's a genre I care a lot about and major publications generally only take interest if it's a Koze/Jaar type figure, I'm allowed to speculate lol Does not take away from how good this is as I've said multiple times
So good. Does anyone know what song he sampled in Cityfade? Or in You Are Going to Love Me and Scream for that matter.. Edit, this is: Alright it's For The Love I Gave To You - Delfonics
I Never Dream is one of the year's best tracks. Reminds me a bit of Jaime xx's "Loud Places" when that big release happens towards the middle.
Continuing my post from April above... I Never Dream is absolutely perfect for the summer weather. Pure euphoria.
I don't know where else to put it, but... Timehop reminded me that 4 years ago tonight was the final Darkside show. That, along with their Coachella 2014 set, are two of the best, most unique, and enthralling sets of live music I've ever seen. Bumping this absurdity in their honor:
