Been thinking about this as I’ve laid here listening to 90s music for the last 45 minutes…who are the top 5 90s bands? Obviously it’ll be different for everyone but curious what people think. Also I think I’ve come to the conclusion that I like both 80s music and 2000s music better than 90s music.
God, the Breeders were just too cool for words. When 4AD came out with Last Splash.... college music was so fun back then.
1. Oasis 2. Nirvana 3. Blur 4. Rage Against the Machine 5. Garbage From the top of my mind. 90s rock, pop and hip hop sound timeless, that’s one of the main reasons is my favorite music era.
Top 5 meaning commercial success or personal favorites ? Success it’d have to be Nirvana…Pearl Jam…Chili Peppers…Radiohead….NIN I think As a child of the 90s the 2nd part of your post is downright offensive lol
I wrote personal my favourite list. Agree with your success list, maybe Smashing Pumpkins should be there too somewhere. that part of the previous message also bothers me lol.
Tbh I wasn’t even thinking of early 90s grunge when I wrote that post I don’t think haha. I think I was thinking of more the mid-late 90s pop rock and cock rock and etc. but yeah I am also a child of the 90s and find myself going back to 2000s and 80s music more often than 90s
I’d never listened to Paula Cole before, outside of her couple of singles. So I threw on This Fire today, and I listened to it three times! Surprisingly really great album! Doing some quick research on it, it was self-produced by Paula, which is amazing because the production on it is soooo good! Well worth a listen, if you like her singles, Tori Amos, and that kinda vibe.
Savage Garden's debut album is up for pre-order on vinyl The Bodyguard soundtrack on vinyl too and Aqua - Aquarium
Yeah, these aren't good... And releasing "Lovin Life" and "Too Old" together is pretty contradictory haha.
When "Breakfast at Tiffany's" hit the radio, I was immediately hooked. I recorded the song from the radio onto a shitty blank cassette tape, and I'd listen to it all the time. I eventually asked my parents to buy me the album on cassette, and I still would just listen to "Breakfast at Tiffany's" on repeat, but without a DJ talking over the beginning and end of it. I never listened to the full album... UNTIL TODAY! I decided to listen through it while I'm working, but I'm too distracted. I'm halfway through it right now and this is waaaay better than I expected it to be! It's super 80s inspired and it's kind of blowing my mind. Most of the songs sound closer to The Smiths and The Cure than what you'd assume just based off of the album's biggest single. I expected it to be along the lines of Tal Bachman or Edwin McCain's style. I'm shocked at how much I'm digging this. I'm also just now learning that they have 2 lead singers, and they're brothers. Check out "Halo", "Josey", and "Done."
My friend reviewed the new Fastball album (out this Friday) - give it a read if you’re interested! (ALBUM REVIEW) Fastball – Sonic Ranch
