guess I'm spending the rest of today listening to Pavement demos and b sides, found some gems I hadn't listened to already. probably wouldn't hurt to just put on Quarantine the Past, never felt the need to do a comp for them before now
these are definitely my favorites from the ones i hadn't heard off of QTP / their respective source material. I have heard Harness Your Hopes like once or twice before today but i forgot that that song kicks so much ass. Box Elder is one of their most straightforwardly poppy tracks and I'm not sure I'd call it one of their best songs or anything -- it feels pretty clearly like they / malkmus hasn't found his songwriting voice here yet -- but it's a good reminder of how good he was w little one off experiments too. and unseen power of the picket fence was particularly cool to me, just feels like a natural bridge between their early days and the sound they'd cultivate on their last couple of records.
i love when they do their freak outs and that is partially why i love the wowee zowee era so much. the second song has some cool psychedelic moments that kind of hint towards stuff SM would get to do with the Jicks
this is amazing in a different way and so much higher energy I will be adding this to my library immediately is this a b side?? I don't recognize it but this is also a great song. might post my favorite SM solo stuff after work bc I never need an excuse for more Malkmus lol
Just sitting here at work wondering whether this Pavement reunion tour will finally answer the burning question of what their throats are filled with
seeing Fillmore jive in person would be a dream. what are the odds they do more shows than the primavera ones?
it's how to rent a room for me, I think I've played the natural bridge every day since I heard about David Berman :/
