Can we talk about how underrated Ride is and how Nowhere is easily one of the best shoegaze albums of the 90s
okay so super depressed version of me went to bed at 9 PM and just woke up at 3 AM to this message. Two songs in and holy SHIT. Could not be loving how this record opens up more. I needed this music in my life in the middle of the night.
Every now and then an artist not departing their trademark sound all too much doesn’t bother me even over a multiple-decade career. Stephen Malkmus is a perfect example
My band got to open for Malkmus and The Jicks a couple years ago in Boston, and it still feels like a dream. I flipped out when I got the email asking if we could. I never thought I’d ever get to meet him, but him and the band were super nice and welcoming. I can’t wait for more new music from them.
Guys for real that latest RIDE album is where it’s fucking at. Anyone in this thread who hasn’t heard it needs to listen. Thank you @primavera for telling me about this, had no idea. It’s better than the Slowdive reunion. I thought Slowdive put out a great record but it didn’t match the magic of Souvlaki... but I thought this RIDE album is legit their best. Don’t even need to listen more times to come to that conclusion. It rocks hard and also has smooth atmospheric sections, plenty of both.
Nahhhh, once the midsection of Souvlaki hits it’s just so spectacular. One of those records that gets better as it goes. The new one is smooth and beautiful but idk that it reaches the same peaks of just, outright jamming over spacey riffs and driving bass lines.
