Time to go back to watching the doomsday clock tick ever so steadily towards midnight

 

Bummer dude.

 

How quickly you all forget. They always botch it in the end. At least there were some amazingly deserved wins throughout most of the night.

 

truly haha. this show rarely ever sways anything at awards that actually matter, as much as any of these dumb ceremonies can matter

 

I liken the Globes to Whose Line Is It Anyways... “the show where everything's made up and the points don't matter”

 

Mendes the king of empty spectacle, all the way to Best Picture at the Oscars

 

anyone dissing the singer of Sugar High from Empire Records will be blocked

 

I have no interest in these dumb awards, but I saw Awkwafina's acceptance speech on Twitter, & it was so weirdly touching for me, & I dunno, she's dope, & The Farewell was my favorite film last year, & yeah.

 

It feels so strange for so many big awards to go to something that no one has seen yet.

 

Also Joker sucks

 

Europeans love war movies. 1917 is not winning best picture.

 

I am seeing 1917 on Friday and i am excited about it

 

Sam Mendes has never made a good movie, and when a film gets a lot of awards notices but barely showed up on critical year-end lists, you know what you are dealing with.

 

The Academy also really loves very obvious, loudly technical filmmaking masking an empty husk of a movie, see: Birdman (2014)

 

Sam Mendes made one of the best action films Of the last 20 years.

I never even heard of that Judy movie until now.

 

I would put a good amount of money down on that not being the case.

 

Parasite is still winning Best Picture. Y'all calm down.

 

I feel like we’re more likely to get a repeat of last year where they make some great and unexpected choices and then totally fumble it for best picture.

 

I think Parasite will win Best Picture UNLESS OUATIH gets enough love votes in the first round to seal it immediately. I think if voting goes more than one round there's NO WAY Parasite can lose. It's too universally liked.

casino royale is a better Craig bond movie, road to perdition is the only Mendes movie I think back on with warmth
