A billionaire's death sets off a chain of events for Iris and her friends during a weekend trip to his lakeside estate.
Yeah this wasn't quite what I was expecting it to be (not sure I'd really classify it as a horror movie even) but it was fucking fantastic, Quaid keeps proving himself and Sophie Thatcher was amazing
Very fun movie, especially the first half. I was also expecting something darker but I’ll take silly too.
I think it loses steam in the third act and it’s repeating similar “watch out for nice guys” beats we have seen in many movies of this kind over the last five years but it gets away with being funny and having fun twists (especially in the first half)
Yep. The best laughs were each time they used the Halloween party memory. Ah, also the cleverness of the scene where she's speaking German to the cop just killed me.
The more I think back on this, the more I love it and I left feeling pretty high on it already. I've recommended it to friends but I've told them all to go in blind as honestly, the less known the better, and the trailer did give a lot away imo (especially having seen it so many times with the amount of movies I go to). But yea, the tone, the dialogue, the vibe - I think this movie pretty much nailed everything and left me with a lot more to think about than expected. Not a huge horror movie fan, but the one thing that the trailers did do well was they didn't oversell it on the scares or anything like that. I figured it'd be way more of a thriller and it absolutely was. And it was surprisingly funny to boot. Some satires are like okay, I get it, and they make you smile, but they're light on actual jokes or laugh out loud moments. I didn't think that was the case here. Been a slow start this year for the movies (barely seen any), but yea, this ruled.
Yeah, that’s crazy. But sadly, didn’t do great in theaters and its numbers were dropping fast. Still, that sucks.
